Just what the name says: a celebration of Stephen Sondheim's music at Carnegie Hall, featuring an outstanding company of accomplished musical performers as Madeline. Madeline performs the VERY challenging "Getting Married Today" from "Company" and pulls it off without a hitch. Absolutely wonderful... and the rest of the show lives up to this standard of excellence as well, including Bernadette Peters' moving rendition of "Not a Day Goes By," Patti LuPone's "Being Alive," and Betty Buckley's "Children Will Listen" backed by the Harlem Boys Choir. This concert is available in three forms, the most complete being the 2-CD recording. There is also a highlights CD, condensed to a 61 minute running time. In addition to these audio recordings, a video of the concert was made to be shown as a part of the PBS Great Performances Series, later to be released on video and laserdisc. It runs 85 minutes. (Special thanks to Kelli for her invaluable assistance in completing my in-depth concert list.)
